Every wall was painted grey,
And they were thick and tall.
Dark as the night, was I
And in the shadows I would stay.
Not knowing if it was night or day.
I prayed for my escape.
With a voice so warm and tender,
I heard him whisper out my name.
He reached out and helped me to remember
What in my mind had faded away.
He carried me out from the shadows.
He knows who I am,
And what I’ve done.
But still he understands,
And helps me carry on.
I can feel Him coming to me.
Like a river in my soul,
Slowly, He’s flowing in me.
Where I used to live alone.
He washes every thing away.
The fear, the shadows,the pain.
The river’s running in my veins.
The sweet touch of Faith.
He carried me out from the shadows.
He knows where I was,
And what I’ve done.
But still he understands,
And helps me carry on.
