Out of my stomach, out of my heart they slither and bubble their way into my throat.

Everyone knows you can see the truth in one’s eyes.
So I gather my courage and I let my soul speak truth.
They flow out as easily as the tears,
And a burden is lifted off my rib cage, the pressure behind my forehead lessens.
Once all the secrets are out I am vulnerable once again.
The world is cruel, and the people are crueler.
Am I ready for this?
Will I ever be ready?
I am naked without my shield of convoluted deceptions.
They say this new freedom will be a good thing,
…that I will once again fit into ‘society’.
But who are they to know?
After all, they were the ones who locked me in this prison.
