: Chance and Strain

brasco writes:: " Do scientists possess tables and charts,
Which decode the tangled webs of our hearts?
Can they truly check one's pulse,
To determine if their love is true or false?

Such things would indeed be nice,
But life is seldom so precise.
It leaves one forever guessing,
So one must take the curses and the blessings.

How is it known if someone's feelings are genuine,
Or if their emotions will stand the test of time?
How can one be expected to commit,
When there is so much at stake to forfeit?

To trust one's heart seems a great gamble,
When all can be lost amidst love’s scramble.
Many rush in without thinking it through,
Clinging to love when they don't have a clue.

Choosing a soul mate is of utmost import,
Therefore haste can cause one to come up short.
The love of one's life is worth the wait,
There’s nothing wrong in taking time to debate.

No one can be certain if their love will work out,
It is a risk we all take there is no doubt.
But love is worth both chance and strain.
For without love, life would have no gain.
