conect11 writes:: " I barely know her some days,
she is the woman from Proverbs Five
sitting on her front step
asking me to sit with her
when it suits her purpose.

I love her,
but more and more I sense an arrogance and selfishness
that is incurable.

It is impossible to criticize her
without a venomous bite.

She does not learn from her mistakes.

And for the past year
I have watched karma tighten its grip on her.
She pays for her past sins now,
but is too proud to see it.
I want to help,
but God has told me
“this is my beef with her,
back off.”

I barely know her most days.
I repair myself,
and have new ways to move forward,
but she is stuck –
a constant rain cloud seems
to hover above her head.

To my eyes,
she knows no remorse.
Her crimes of the past
justified in her mind,
boarded up in a small room
like the “Cask of Amontillado.”
