: Nobodies Child
|
on Wednesday, July 28 @ 05:30:56 UTC
maria writes:: " Little Maggie awakens but crawls beneath her cover,
Then is startled by the cries of her Drunk, Aggressive Mother.
‘Maggie come in here, but before, wash your teeth’
And put on a dress, then come and meet uncle Keith’.
At ten years of age and the world on her shoulders,
She arises from the bed and removes all the folders
That covered her door when times ‘filled with desperation
And all Maggie craves is a life of isolation,
A ritual for a minor, an offence for her mother,
She knew uncle Keith was not her mommas’ brother,
For he was a visitor, the usual paying guest,
The type of man who requested more than the best,
He wanted services from a girl so young and tender,
You could see from his shoes that he was a big spender,
‘Maggie come in here, the man is now ready,
undo his trousers and keep your hands steady’
Then with that her mother then leaves the room,
And Maggie begins what she hopes will end soon,
She chokes at the harshness on the back of her throat,
She finishes, then he hands her a five pound note,
Maggie walks to the bathroom to clean off his drool,
Then quickly gets dressed just in time for school,
She plays up to teachers until a detention is filed,
Fearing her home,
because she is Nobodies Child.

Re: Nobodies Child (Score: 1) by angelkisss143 on Saturday, July 31 @ 21:21:07 UTC (User Info | Send a Message) | This is a very dark but truthful poem about child abuse, I think you did a wonderful job with your words; I was drawn into the heart-wrenching life of this poor child as she had to do these horrible things, but the lines
"She arises from the bed and removes all the folders
That covered her door when times ‘filled with desperation"
Kind of confused me... I don't understand what the folders are supposed to represent, filled with depression? But other than that really an excellent poem…
