WAR

cutebeka writes:: " Evil eyes,
wicked grin,
can you see the darkness within?
tears falling
chaos screaming
scarlet liquid flowing
can you see where darkness lies?
scars not showing
broken glass
delicate hands reaching for the pass
can't quite grasp
letting go
falling...
hopeless dreams
ceased to be seen
can you see what lies beneath?
disgraceful visage
painful grimace
endless rage
fearful children
paranoia spreading
widowed wives
childless mothers
men standing on the front lines
rifles blasting
enemies falling
allies gasping for one last breath
"Tell my family I love them and I died fighting for my country" is the echo
throughout the night
can you see how many people died because of lies?
Night breaks into Day
repetition
same planes soaring
releasing explosives
buildings falling
smoke suffocating the innocent
can one man save thousands?
too late to know
distant lands
conversing faults
all is lost
is there any hope?
the fallen ones in purgatory
Saint Peter waiting at the pearly gates to admit them
what happens to the families?
a small child lost in the rubble
clutching his teddy too tight,
he had a family an hour ago,
then they suffered a terrible plight,
now the child is an orphan,
crying silent tears.
what happens to the injured?
they are being shot up with morphine, codine and vicodin
to numb the pain,
limbs being amputated,
wounds being cleansed, stitched and bandaged,
what happens to the lifeless bodies?
they are packed up in body bags,
being shipped to their mourning families,
they will be placed in a coffin,
the American flag draped over,
in respect to our fallen soldier.
Yesterday is now history, tomorrow will we have our victory?
we don't know until tomorrow comes,
when night breaks into day,
and the rooster crows,
then the day begins,
and we find out its just repetition,
just like yesterday and the day before and the day before,
nothing will change,
more soldiers die,
more wives and children cry,
cities in ruins,
American blood spilt on enemy grounds,
soon this terror will end,
we pray for it to end everyday,
but when will it?
when will victory be won?
it will be won when the president says its over.
Then things will be normal,
but will it?
wives,children,lovers still mourning their losses,
their lives have been changed permanently,
what about ours?
the ones who lost no one,
will our lives be touched?
maybe changed?
maybe we will learn from this experience,
maybe it will change people for the better,
and not one day should be taken for granted.
This is what some would call WAR.
