: Dear John
on Tuesday, December 21 @ 13:04:18 UTC
eyerice writes:: " Dear John,
Years have gone by since I last saw your face
I remember you laying there so still and quiet that day
The look of strain upon your face- your blue eyes closed or taken away
I remember how the smile on our son turned to a frown
how the sparkle in his sweet eyes faded away when his little world came unwound
Days before
you came to our home and swelled his little chest with pride
For 3 days you stayed showing nothing but a gentle way
What joy you brought to a little boy who loved you so
Then he was told he had to let go
Sit down here child let Mother speak to you
There is something I need to tell you and I have to be true
Your Daddy is gone to never return............
I could hear his breath swelling his little chest once more with pain
He let one small tear come out for you then wiped them away .........
There is no way for you to take back what you did to his heart
No way to stop his world from falling apart
What a horrible vision to imagine to see
The thought of your daddy swinging from a tree
I think of you often as I know so does he
I still rember your laugh and your beautiful smile
I have thougth and I still do to this day
that it was your habit that took you away
It wasnt a needle or powder or pill
It was alcohol that caused your demise
To teach others and my son is my will
Please know in more than one way alcohol does kill
Dear John, I sit and think everyday- I hope and I pray our little boy doesnt end up the same way

We still love you. God Bless your soul.

Love, Jenny

Losing someone to a deseas like alchohol, suicide, drugs, or an accident must be devestating, this poem helped me to look through the eyes of someone mourning and have sympathy. Im sorry this happened to you, unfortunately things like this happen everyday and im sure its only magnified by the holidays.
Im sure, your son and you will work towards a brighter futur. However, I believe, you will not be able to rid yourselves of the imprint your husband had on your lives, best of wishes
