A Soldiers Day
|
on Tuesday, January 11 @ 00:00:00 UTC
songcrafter writes:: " He touched the hand that held the gun,
The one that now was still
He never meant to be like those,
Who war, hurt and kill.
But here he laid upon the sands,
His life now bled away
He had planned a happy life,
That's what he was heard to say.
Be he was sent to foreign shores,
Trained with knife and gun
A part time soldier now sent away,
To another land beneath the sun.
The firefight that came this day,
Was more than he'd ever seen
It was all rockets and automatic fire,
Mixed in with human screams.
They'll lay a flag upon him now,
As he's flown from this land
And as he does another takes his place,
In the land of heat and sand.
I've heard some say war is hell,
It's been said many times
What will they say when comes the day...
They take this life of mine.
He touched the hand that held the gun,
The one that now was still
I wonder have we learned at all,
Do you think we ever will?
(c) 2004 songcrafter (G.D.E.) "
