: The Messenger

Anonymous writes:: " I wish I'd told you,
Just how I feel,
But my tongue beat not as fast,
As my heart can speak.
In awe and reverence,
I tried to define, depict and delineate your grace.
And its in this great place of destiny,
That my message appeared fickle and frail in substance -
Frantic in motion and gesticulation,
Abstract in fact,
For how could art,
Seem so unversed and rushed,
So unrehearsed.
I recall of you sat right there,
And in my playful penmanship,
Inscribed your name in calligraphy,
For it now remains enciphered in poetry -
A collage of camouflaged language,
Which I cannot pretend to comprehend.
My message, maundered as I muttered,
Stuttered and stammered,
And I cannot explain,
How my words came to spill,
And seem so dilute and adulterate,
So inelaborate.
